Problems with hand and finger flexibility led to this build solution.

The customer wanted low gears that could be selected without excessive finger and thumb rotation or force.

Trigger shifts required too much pressure whilst Revoshifts needed too much grip and movement in the wrist.

With its two button electronic gear selection and wide gear range, Shimano's 11-speed Alfine hub gear with the Di 2 controls was the solution.
